Agistri island
Agistri or Angistri is the smallest of the inhabited Argo-Saronic islands with an area of 13 square kilometers. Partly because of its size, but also its natural beauty, it is an inviting retreat from where you can rest and recuperate from the pressures of everyday life.
The island is beloved of many staying visitors who return every year to spend their precious holiday. Although the population grows from the resident 700 to over 4,000 during the summer months it retains its slower pace. The main attractions being the natural surroundings, the beaches and the friendly tavernas which serve traditional Greek dishes.

The harbours at Skala and Milos
The boats to Agistri call at two harbours on the island. The first is at the small village of Skala on the eastern side which is where many of Agistri's tavernas and hotels are located. The second harbour stop at the north of the island is at Megalochori which means 'large village' and is alternatively known as Milos. This is the main settlement of the island and visitors will find shopping opportunities with a variety of souvenir shops and supermarkets. There are tavernas and bars eager to satisfy your urge for a cool drink and a traditional Greek lunch.
Most day-visitors will limit their encounter with Agistri to time spent at either Skala or Milos. If you walk between these two harbour villages then you will surely find your perfect beach spot. The coast here is both sandy and pebbly with plenty of beds with bars and cafes. The friendly waiters will happily bring you snacks and drinks as you recline in front of their establishment right by the sea.
Travel off the beaten track......
However, there are a number of other beautiful villages and beaches which are interesting to explore if you are willing to rent a bike or car. These include the inland village of Limenaria where you will find a small number of tavernas nestled within this picturesque spot. Other beaches and swimming spots worth a visit are found at Dragonera, Aponnisos, Mareza, and Skliri. Some are more isolated but worth the effort to visit for their quiet calmness.
Dragonera
If you follow the road from Milos west and south-ward you will reach the beach of Dragonera first. The road is set back from the coast but raised up and runs through the pine forest. It is a lovely drive and you will find Dragonera to be set within a large cove and well organised with beds and a bar.
